How fast should I see backlinks from articles in Yahoo and Majestic?

Hi,

A quick question to all the SEO gurus:

How fast should I see backlinks to my site from articles I've written?

I've written a an article on the following sites (with backlinks to my niche site - I've verified that all of them link properly):

GoArticles - published on 3/16
Ezine Articles - published on 3/25
amazines.com - published on 3/17
ArticleRich.com - published on 03/22

Checked both Yahoo and Majestic SEO site explorers today (03/25) and the backlinks to my site still do not appear. Should I be worried, or is this a common occurrence? It's been over a week for 2 of the articles already.

No links in Google webmaster tool either as of today.

Thanks for any info you can provide!

Mark

It is common for many backlinks to not show up in yahoo for quite some time. This isn't really something you should worry about because this doesn't meant that the search engines are not seeing them and taking them into account for your rankings. The best thing to do is to continue building them on a consistent basis.

The yahoo site explorer will give you a general idea of a sites backlinking strength, but it wont show everything.

      Thanks!

Just found this forum and the information here seems to be top notch!

I've been building the links, it's just a little bit frustrating when I can't see them actually being recognized as such.

I just figured since those article directories get crawled very frequently by google the backlinks should appear fairly quickly.

I can see my google ranks slowly improving, it's just it would be nice to see which one of my efforts actually pay-off:
      Web 2.0
      articles directories
      link exchanges, or other.

P.S. Weird thing - for some of the secondary keywords I'm on a 3rd page of google.com already, however when it comes to yahoo or bing - not in the top 100.

I don't really care about bing or yahoo that much, just find it strange that the difference is that big between them and google.

you fistly should check whether your articles are approved by these site, especially in Ezine Articles, if it is done, then just waiting. by the way, I think you can make use of more article directories such as sooperarticles.com and so on.

As an important rule Mark backlinks don't actually show up on either of these services for some time.

I normally give it at least 2-3 months based on indexing frequency.

        Thanks Devid,

I'm starting to see some article backlinks in Yahoo site navigator now - because I read the SEQ - Frequently Asked Questions sticky:

"How do I get my backlinks indexed?

The slow way is to wait for the search engines to naturally find them. The faster way is to ping the page after you leave a backlink. For truly fast backlinking social bookmark them or create RSS feeds with links in."

So I used pinomatic.com to ping all of my articles, web 2.0 properties and my blogs, it seemed to start the process, at least from yahoo's view.

Next step, I will bookmark them to speed up the process.
