Do you get higher rank at first and then go down a little?

It looks like google loves me more while it's discovering new links and i get a higher rank, and then it kinda goes back down. After that it steadily goes back up as am building more links.

If i have a new website and submit a lot of articles i get a pretty high ranking. Then I slow down on the article submission and google puts me somewhere at the bottom of the first page/ top of the 2nd one... then i have to crawl back up...

Is this the case with everyone or is there something else that I need to know?

      Some people say that google dance is when you rank high then go way below your initial ranking (10th page of google and beyond). On top of that Google dance usually brings you back to the position that you had previously.

      I'm not sure if this problem that I'm having is that drastic. From what i've read Google dance brings you back to where you were pretty much. In this case I rank lower and there's no coming back unless i do some additional work.

      I'm totally unsure what google dance really is and if this is it.
