Help Increase My AdSense Clicks

Hi,

I was wondering if some of you adsense experts could take a look at my site and tell me if there's something I can do to improve click throughs. I get between 300-400 visitors a day, average 3-4 pages per visitor. My clickthrough rate is less than 1 percent, though--averaging $1 a day or so.

Teach ESL to Kids

As you can see, I've experimented with the adsense-style clickbank ads and haven't had much luck with those.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Love,
Shannon

Instead of all the small ones i would just put ONE big 336 on top lefthand into the text. (Text should be wrapped).

    Like here

you can also skip the left vertical bar...but the big 336 have without a doubt the best CTR

Choose a selling and interesting topic so many will get interested about your blogs, then promote by doing a lot of link building campaign. And microblogging is effective as well.

yeah, I second the BIG blocks.

Another thing is relevancy to your visitors.

The title of your page should not have teach or kids.
Emphasize ESL or English as a second language. Leave it
at that. A good title would be:
ESL: English as a second language.

With teach and kids in there, you will get a TON of ads
targeting teaching anything and everything to do with kids.

Case in point. when I went there I got one ad for
Masters in TEOSL, which is not the same. I also got
an ad for kids easter activities and teach piano.

Again, de-emphasize the kids and teach, or teacher.

You really have to tweak your titles of your posts.
      Like this one:
      Why Teach ESL to Kids?

Again, get rid of teach and kids. Change it to
something like Why I love ELS in Japan.

Targeted ads to for ESL will get you boat loads more clicks
if you also get more targeted visitors.

You have a page titled 'Teaching Ideas.' Again, change it to
ESL Ideas. Do this throughout your site.

Oh. Use the competitive ad filter to get rid of stuff like
      piano and easter ads.

Do like Paul said, you wouldn't believe how changing a couple of words will change your Ads. Sometimes Adsense is very picky about the keywords you use.

Paul had a post about this a while back.

I would probably get a new theme to start with as there is too much white space for my liking and I think if there were more borders in your theme you could help direct eyes to your adsense ads.

Additionally I would use a big ad at the start (like in the image posted by GeorgeR above) and then another big one at the bottom of the page.

I wouldn't keep those blue color in ads, looks very bright.

Post Adsense ads them on text rich pages and make sure that Adsense had a bunch of keywords to work with. Getting Higher paying keywords is better of course. # Get rid of public service ads, which pay you nothing for your efforts. Here are some ways to avoid getting PSA’s. Avoid titles like the approved ‘Sponsored Links’ and ‘Advertisements’ above the Adsense ads. Why do you want to tell the world they are ads when google already puts ‘Ads by Gooooogle’ with them. These two terms are the only ones allowed by Google TOS.

I saw that your ads are placed down the page. You want to put them all at the top of the page, either right on the top or next to the text. If you are aiming to increase your CTR, I´d delete the opt in box.

    Thanks for the comments.

I will work on the text to try to change the ads. However, the site is geared towards *teachers* not toward ESL in general. For example, the Masters in TESOL is a great ad for me (and I suspect one that gets clicked on a lot). The piano one, not so much.

The competitive ad filter is a great suggestion. I didn't know that I could do that. :-)

The big ad is another good idea.

I'll have another good look at my pages in the next few days and see what I can do.

    Love<

Well Shannon, with all due respect, why have the domain "teach-esl-to-kids.com"
and using anchor text, "Teach ESL to Kids" ?

"Teachers" will get you a boat load of irrelevant ads. Too broad. You want
ads to mimic the articles you have. You may think a Masters in TEOSL will
get clicks, but it probably won't. Your visitors are looking for resources
in helping them teach ESL. The more you gear yourself to that, the better.

My suggestion would be to actually have a page titled, How to be an ESL
teacher if you like those ads.

I see what you're saying. I was worried that focusing on "ESL" would lead towards ads that deal with people searching for info on how to *learn* ESL, not teach it. You're right. My main readers will be interested in materials for teaching ESL.

        Thanks for your input.

    And one more question...
I've had this site for several years. If I change the title of the pages and focus of the pages, will it significantly screw up my current search engine results?

    Love,
