Don't worry about pagerank. It fluctuates a lot and Google rarely updates it for the public. Instead, focus on proper SEO, backlinks, and outranking your competition.

I've read in an eBook that when promoting a blog social booking is the way to go.

Focus on blog commenting, forum posting, social bookmarking and article writing. These methods are good in getting both high ranking and traffic.

Without a ton of time to do link building then I would recommend tapping into the power of a blog network where you can post unique content with anchor text back links, then you take those links and make sure they are indexed by using say backlink booster or by setting up your very own indexing cluster, which is what we do!

If you really want to focus on page rank use do follow comments from high PR blogs. This will not help rankings much for the time investment in my experience though... but you'll have a shiny PR number to show...

The best and reliable method would be to become the member of various high pr forums like this one, and consistently posting and exchanging views on various threads on the forums.

There is one method which doesn't require you to do much work. Linkbaiting is the best way for you but you need to create content that is unique enough for readers to use your content on their website. I do have some success in linkbaiting but not so much. It's pretty hard unless your content is really off the charts. Besides that, the others do need a lot of work or money if you go for outsourcing.

The most excellent way to improve your page rank is to place new posts regularly. I got page rank of 3 in 2 months for my blog. I used to posts article every week.. i tried to build up the subscription by various social networking sites and through other social media marketing. Google favors blogs as they come up with fresh content every time. SO since u do own a blog it shud be much easier. Well the way of gaining a good page rank hasn't changed much since last year. The only difference is, there have been improved way of gaining popularity over the internet. You got social networking sites, bookmarking sites and twitter. These are easiest way of gaining traffic. The more traffic and backlinks you get the better chances of you getting good page rank. So keep that going..
