SandBox

Hey all,

I'm seeking some advice. I have a site in a hugely competitive market which I built and haven't touched since August 2010. I am waiting for the SandBox to loosen its grip on the site (it doesn't even show up for its domain keywords).

I am relatively experienced with SEO, but need some advice here.

I started to see the site climbing up the ranks a little bit these past 2 weeks, but now it's just dropped off the radar again completely. Do you think this is a Google Dance, or whether the site has some problems / issues with the big G? Have any of you guys experienced this before and what's likely to happen?

Thanks!

  • Hi gregbanks,

    There is no Sandbox!

You must earn your ranking by creating and promoting useful content relevant to the keyword you are targeting. There is no reason to wait for a mythological "Sandbox" to loosen it's grip. Get busy promoting your web pages now, with solid promotional methods, and earn those higher rankings you seek.

The short term rise in rankings you experienced is what we all typically see due the the effects of QDF (Query Deserves Freshness). Now that temporary boost has worn off, you must go out and earn the higher rankings you seek.

    • Hi productsmarine,

I believe your post is wrong in several respects.
      1. The "Google Dance" is a term that was coined to refer to major SERP algorithm updates that cause SERP results to "dance" around as the new algorithm settles in.

      2. The so called "Sandbox Effect" applies to all new content, not just new domains.

      3. The "Sandbox Effect" is related to trust factors. New pages have not yet earn the trust that comes from standing the test of time. This has little or nothing to do with search engine crawl frequency, as inferred by your post.

  • if you havent touched it then youll definitely just see it going up and down.

Start work on it and dont worry about anything else.
  • Try to link those page on your very strong page link like your home page to lift up your site in sandbox.
