Quick question about domain names

Hi all,

I'm trying to target a keyword and have it in the domain name. Unfortunately it is unavailable. My question is, is it better to add a word before the keyword in the domain name e.g bestkeyword.com or is it better to add a word after the keyword - e.g. keywordreview.com

Your feed back would be greatly appreciated.

  • I don't guess it makes much difference. Personally, I will not buy a domain name that is not exact keyword. It's harder to rank keywords domains with modifiers and dashes in them. If the person who has the .com domain has good SEO on and off page it will be difficult to beat them.

    I have several times bought domain names that are .net keyword domain names and the .com be sold, but rank very well because the .com domain name was not SEO'd.

    Might want to do a little research if it something you really want to do.
  • You can add a dash if it's a two or three word keyword. Most people do.

    thanks for the replies! Unfortunately it seems that opinion is rather polarized - either adding a word does affect seo and ranking chances, or it doesn't! Thus I'm none the wiser.

    Anybody else care to comment? Has anyone tried to test this issue?
