  • Are these pages on the same website?

Best thing is to do a custom 404, with links to parts of your website.

This is a good practice anyway.

You could do a 301 redirect for them as well, but if they
are numerous, it would be quite a task.

No reason to not go with the flow! The more ways people get to
    your site, the better.

  • Thanks paul but i'll like to get rid of these pages in google. The new pages i created are not even indexed. So i'm confused.
  • If you don't want your old page to appear on google, then you can ask google to deindex that pages. You can find it the the link below.

      Do the 404, B I N G O ! Common practice.

There are some rare reasons as to not want old pages to appear.

But if they changed, moved, or you just deleted them, there is
no reason to want them to not appear. The 404 will give a plethora
of options for the visitor to go to. If they are now appearing in
SERPs, why cut off that flow of traffic?

Eventually, they won't appear. But get some bonus traffic in
      the mean time.

      Maybe it's just me?

I would never in a hundred years, post a link to any of my sites on any type of Google forum!

Sounds like your asking for trouble...
