Buying links

Hi There

I am curious what you think about buying links. I have read in many places that google strongly dissaproves of buying links and if they find out they will ban / lower your site in the rankings.

But how would they know? If two webmasters do a deal via email, send the money via paypal etc etc and the link goes live, surely it's a private deal and the link just looks like any other.

I have never bought links but I was curious to see a section on the forum where people are buying / selling.

  • i'm new as of November but i assume building them yourself will more worthwhile, just in the knowledge of how to do plus the satisfaction of not selling out for money

    • Good point... but surely some would see buying links as part of building their own portfolio of links.

      As far as I knew most link building methods cost money in some shape or form, either paying people to submit to DIRs for you, doing blog comments... of course all this can be done by yourself, it's just incredibly time consuming if you want to achieve big numbers of links
    • I suppose it helps the person learn the skills and saves money but time is money. The more time a person spends doing backlinks and promotion, the less time they have to do other things which will make money.

  • I don't believe that google can find out if you just send the money to a webmaster through any payment gateway as you send it personally. Google may catch you if you buy from the so called "backlink building website" or "buy backlink website"

  • We still don't know the capacity of Google in detecting if a link is paid or not. But I have heard many issues about link buying and there are many site owners that have been penalized by Google because they bought links.

    In my oppinion if you afraid of buying links, but don't want to spend your own time to build those then outsource it.

    For example you can hire somebody on this forum to do the link building for you. In this case you will pay for links but there is no way to be recognised.
  • You can actually do backlinking yourself such as blog commenting, forum posting, profile link building, article marketing, just to name a few. But building links to your website in the most part is very time consuming. In addition, it is important to get most of your links that are related to your niche.
  • You can buy profiles. it is very index and cheap.

  • Buy no follow links if you want traffic. Otherwise by little links and work your way up.
