Hey do back links that don't target a keyword still help your sites ranking in Google?

For instance, the first site you just put in your website and no keyword, that still helps?

Yes of course they do, just not quite as much. All backlinks have juice but there are many factors depending on how much including:

DoFollow/NoFollow
OBLs on page
Anchor text (as your mentioned)
Relevance of site
Authority of site (.EDU are really high authority)
etc.

They should be good. I manually verified them this morning before I slapped the video up. If there is an issue probably because the video has got some hits since I put it up (like 120ish likes already!) so there is a possibility that a site or two will take down registration. Haven't heard any complaints though

It is possible. This video got a ton of hits. It has 135 likes, don't know views yet as it takes like 24-36 hours to update on new videos but probably thousands. Would not be surprised at all if they closed registration.

Get what you can when you can!

Thanks! I wish I could give you a real thanks for this post. One question: Do these forum profiles tend to get indexed on their own? I know most normal forum profiles are difficult to get indexed

Edit: Was just browsing the SAA forum... it has a bunch of spam from january that hasn't been deleted. Looks like no one ever moderates this thing

They will get indexed on their own given time, there are memberlists and various structures in forums to link to profiles. If you want feel free to ping them to speed it up or even submit to a social bookmarking site.

It is possible that they may close registration or accounts. That's why when I sell these link packages I limit copies to 20 people. Just thought I'd put a freebie out and help get my YT video some stats which promotes my packages

However, should take you 5 minutes max to place the 3 links so no real harm done even if all 3 were removed (doubtful).

That's good to hear! Ya, forums are pretty SE friendly, you can ping them to get it done quicker but most new profiles get crawled and indexed pretty darn quickly so I don't even bother!

Again that's why I limit lists of .EDU and .GOVs I sell to 20 people. I put this vid up like a week ago and no problems yet but yes, it usually happens when things get too public.
