How to Split the sitemap.xml pages

Hello Friends,

How to Split the sitemap.xml pages. Our sitemaps contain than 5,560 urls. So i decided to split that large sitemap.xml file into smaller .xml files with sitemap1, sitemap2, sitemap3,sitemap4, sitemap5.
Does google accept sitemaps with that many files? Is this benefits in Search Engines. I am waiting for your replay ASAP...

Yes Google accepts multiple xml site map submissions, for example one for products, one for blog posts, etc. You can reference all your site maps in a master site map as well and just submit that.
