Is getting listed on Yahoo Directory a good way to drive traffic to a site? I was about to submit my site for hopeful acceptance and I read that if your site is accepted, your asked to make a one time payment of $299 along with an annual renewal fee of the same amount. Obviously for some people that money is nothing in the grand scheme of things but for me, I needed to take a step and back to do some research. Anyone here listed on Yahoo Directory?

I listed one of my top ranking sites (site ranks top #5 in google for broad competitive keyword) about 2 months ago to see what the effects would be and did not experience any change what so ever in google rankings... However that one link alone shot my ranking from the 3rd page in yahoo to halfway up the first. Yahoo provides maybe 3 clicks to every 100 clicks Google delivers but i'm sure adds up to a few hundred bucks additional income a year.

I feel it is good to have, just to be safe and to level the playing field with other top ranking sites i'm competing against who already have one.

If you are not ranking "as is" without it and making money off of your current ranking... do not invest in a yahoo dir. link at this point in time.

good advice. i'm ranking pretty well for a 4 month old site. i have 6 keywords chillin on page 1 along with another 5 or 6 about a month away from joining them (hopefully). can i be doing better? sure but for this point in time, i would consider my progress very good

It's definitely not worth the money in my opinion. I have a couple sites with it, and I wouldn't do it again.
