Density of keywords in an Article!!

Hi Warriors,

I have bought the domain and hosting. So i am ready to fly now

One thing i need to ask is that i have my keywords in my notepad file which i will be using in my articles.

Like i have 1-2 keywords, that are my target keywords. And other keywords have relatively small searches per month.

So, should i use all my keywords (target one and other with small amount of searches than target one) or i should only use one keyword?

I am little confused in it, Please help me Warriors.:confused:

And one thing more, how long should be my articles in my website.

Thanks

  • it's always easy to focus on one keyword.

But you can get more visitors if you focus on more keywords. But you should also work more if you are optimising your site for multiple keywords.
  • Keyword density in an article should be around 3% to 5%.. but ezinearticles for example requires less than 5%

Both parts of this are sadly mistaken.

EZA requires less than 2% keyword density (otherwise you'll - understandably! - get an automated rejection without the submission even getting as far as a human editor).

And readers also require less than that. Make your articles readable, if you want any traffic from them, and stop worrying so much about maximising your keyword density.

    • I'm curious where you got those numbers from. 5% keyword density will not only make for an article which is difficult to read but it will also get you banned from Google.

I usually advise around 1-2% keyword density to my clients. Imagine for example that your keyword was how to make money online. Here's an example of 5% keyword density with that KW:

Everyone wants to know how to make money online but few people know how do it. The reason why so many want to know how to make money online is because they think it’s easy. But it’s really not easy. For example, if you were to visit how to make money online forums, you might be advised to mention make how to money online as your keyword at least 5% of the time during your articles. This will result in Google not liking your how to make money online site because you mention how to make money online too often.

And that's actually doing it in a fairly realistic and clever way. Few people are able to blend keywords as naturally as that and most create much more awkward material than what I wrote above.

I've had clients who insisted on 3% KW density and it drove me nuts trying to do that. Plus, simply focusing on KW density also ignores other factors, like writing quality content which actually has value and using LSI so that your content doesn't appear to be spammy but actually looks natural.

Mind you, in the short term such high KW density may help you, but in the long term, you're likely to get de-indexed for being a spammer with low quality MFA content. Just my 2 cents of course from 3+ years of experience writing thousands of articles for clients online...
  • Can any one please give me a good framework of how to exactly optimize article with keywords??
  • Keyword density is such a small part (in my opinion) of the overall ranking algorithms that I truly believe it doesn't really matter much at all. Write your content with the midset of impressing the reader and inconspicuously leading them to wherever it is you want them to go. You'll be fine!

  • Write primarily for your readers NOT the search engines. My policy is as follows:

    • Use the keyword you are targeting at the beginning of your article's title.
    • Use that same keyword in the first sentence of the first paragraph and the last sentence of the last paragraph.
    • Use that keyword again as the link text in your author bio.
    • Use Google's Wonder Wheel to find several LSI keywords and sprinkle them appropriately throughout the article.

  • Keywords are important but not the end-all of article marketing. The advice, already give, to heed EzineArticles Terms of Service is well taken if you are going to use that platform. The TOS of other directories also require adherence.

The most important part of article writing, however, is to write articles that will draw readers in so they want to read what you have written and submitted, then move them to action. Sure, it's important to get Google rank, but Google rank does not necessarily convert into Clicks or Purchases or Sign-ups. That must be accomplished by understandable, persuasive writing.

So use keywords for sure, but concentrate on effectively communicating with your readers. Use tools like LSIKeywords to find relevant keyword substitutes, but never lose sight of your real purpose, to inform your reader so they want more of what you offer.
