Hi there,
My Word Press blog is in English but 2 landing pages are in Russian and Hebrew and based on WP template.
So because the WP platform is in English and doesn't recognize other languages I inserted into russian and hebrew landing pages meta tags, keywords and titles in English.

PC Repair and Maintenance Service in Russian in Tel-aviv Israel

So my question is will google penalize me for having pages in russian and hebrew with the title, description and keywords in english?
Thanks,
Vad

    Hi Vad,

Generally, Google doesn't go around penalizing websites except in really egregious circumstances. The worst you can expect in most cases is to be ignoredby Google, however some folks might consider that worse than a penalty.

Your page title is a very important tag for SEO, so if your title doesn't match your target keyword it will be harder to be found in the SERP.

By the way have you checked out this link:

      Hi Dburk,
      thanks for replying!
I mean by "penalising" lowering quality score, etc...
As I'd like to use these pages in PPC marketing to promote my business here in Israel I started to worry regarding SERP and quality score as Google might not understand the relevancy between title and description in English and the content in Russian.
If you look at the source code of the above pages you'll see that the title, keywords and description are in English.
      Will Google see the relevancy?

Regarding Word Press I'd like it to stay in English as my whole blog and the content is in English except those two pages.

      Thanks,
      Vadim

They would penalize if you are building links that you can not maintain.

No, it will not... What you are doing is not included on possible reasons why google penalize websites.

no, and I don't think so since every one is doing it...
and you are getting people to link with you on their site which you can't control...

I see no reason why google should penalize your website. As long as the content is unique, you have nothing to worry about.

        Thanks guys,
so is it better to have title, description and keywords in the same language as the content of the page or is it fine to have it in English? Will Google understand the relevancy between two languages?
        Thanks,
        Vadim

It's not a question of whether Google can translate to determine the relevancy in different languages, it is about user experience. Having titles in one language and content in another creates a poor user experience.

If your AdWords ads are in one language and your landing page title is in another language you can expect a poor quality score. AdWords will not translate for the sake of relevancy.

I think you are right about it.
I will change titles, etc... to the language that pages are written.

But how about landing page that written in one language and the blog itself in another?
Does this seems in Google eyes as bad user experience?

            Thanks,
            Vadim

Google tends to look at each page separately, however the links out from your page count as part of your score. If you include links to relevant content and the usual requirements for contact, privacy, and TOS in the same language you should be good.

I do not think Google will penalise you for this. To be sure, check the Google webmaster guidelines to see if they say it is not allowed.
