It teaches you what it takes to become an authority site with 50k or less and the hard work that needs to be placed before reaches top status as this wasn't done all in one day or month but gradually growing throughout the years. It teaches the importance of what each stats mean by searching for its description you can find its proper purpose to exist.

I know buddy But I mean in what timeframe can you achieve that? Maybe a year, like going from 900k to 50k. I think im dreaming, oh well all the time I lost.

Alexa ranking does not mean much. I would never buy a site
based on alexa. Alexa is for entertainment purposes only.

I'm not sure why anyone would think alexa is a valuable tool.

It's a tool, but of little value.

Huge difference between pumping up traffic and pumping up
        sales.

I'm not sure why people seem to be on an alexa kick at the
        moment.

Traffic exchanges are huge on alexa. What does that tell you?

Why do you want to improve it? It means nothing.

There are no other gimmicks other than massive traffic.

So, join autohits.dk , put your site in. Buy a bunch of hits
or let your browser autosurf all day long. Or maybe a manual
surf like trafficswarm. Buy some traffic and let er go!

Alexa is an indicator of traffic, maybe, but not quality.

No, but just don't have adsense on them.

      I disagree.

For smaller businesses who do not have access to ComScore and looking to advertise on websites (without going through AdSense or 3rd Party Ad Networks) - it means a LOT.

If you claim to have X amount of users but your Alexa is not even ranked - it throws up a red flag for a potential advertiser.

Ok. Educate me. What does it mean? Of what use is it? What will happen to my site if I improve the alexa ranking, by getting my buddies to install the toolbar and click on my site lots of times?

Create more traffic. The more traffic I create the lower the ranking on my sites will go. It also seems to update to a new number once a week or more. I have found no other viable solution. If you do please post it.

Install the alexa toolbar on firefox. Set your domain to which you want to boost Alexa to local and host a self refreshing script (at browser level) there with a preferred interval. Set it on a night go to sleep and check the alexa rank next day.

Haha nice to know I wasn't the only one who's done that. I also threw in the compete.com toolbar.

So everyone in here is debating the importance of an Alexa ranking by figuring out a way to game the system. Shouldn't this be titled, the importance of an artificial alexa ranking?
