So, I've had a domain name and a wordpress website for about 3 days and have given it a page or two of content each day. It's now indexed in google with all of it's pages (except for today's posts). I don't have it optimized for search engines. I just would kind of like to know if i'm on a good path right now. Any thoughts?

  • do you ping them ?
  • Nope. Never pinged em. Just through it out there and it was found. Also, It was a brand new domain. Thought of it myself.

    • Doesn't wordpress automatically ping any new post or edit? The same thing happened with me and I found out it is set up that way. I had to get another plug in so it would not excessively ping.
  • I feel stupid; I just said through instead of threw...
  • You never have to ping new Wordpress blogs. We put up 2 posts that are around 800-1000 words on any subject and in a week it's all indexed up.

Got a guy who has an "indexing" business where he get rubes to pay him $$ to get their lonely and sad static sites indexed with the SEs.

Wordpress is a POWER house if you configure it properly, use the right plugins, theme, and content.

My wife's blogs punt Citibank, Wells Fargo, and Eloan all night long and all day long.

    Go WP.

  • I don't Think one need to put any extra effort to ping any new blog on word press but after all I am also not sure about this. Okay, Fine, I am also waiting to see what other people are having there opinion about this that would be help full to know about this what is the funda basically behind this!
  • If your pages are indexed pinging is not required more. Just make backlinks for them from article directories, social bookmarks, blogs with commenting and any other source you know, then wait to see its ranking.
  • On one hand, it would have been better if you had optimized out of the gates.

But, on the other hand, it's nice that your site is now indexed and aging like a fine wine in the Google algo.

Bottom line: get those title tags and on page optimization cleaned up soon
  • You are on the right track. no you need to optimize!

    • Best kept secret: There is nothing to really do to get indexed. If it's
on the web, they will find you. If they want to.

People have come up with all sorts of kabuki dances to get indexed.
Why? Well, one can only assume it makes entertaining reading regarding
      someone's big bang index theory.
