Hi guys, I'm just finishing up a site, and I want to get it sent to as many people as possible.

It's a pretty fun site, kind of thing someone bored in work would spend a while on... having been one of these people, I know.

There's no real demographic, everyone would get a kick out of it.

I've put adsense on it, so hope to get as much traffic as possible.

Here's my plan, can you please tell me if there's anything else I can do to generate traffic... remember, it's a fun site that most people would get a kick out of.

1. Head over to fiverr and use social marketing services
2. Send it to all my facebook friends, and ask them to do the same... I'm ok doing this as its not a crap spammy site.
3. Press release, I've never done this, but I have a few links from a war room pdf.

Article marketing doesn't apply... so, any more tips on how to get this out to the world?

Dont want to post it here, for obvious reasons.

Cheers.

You can spread it all over the internet through link building. you said that your site was a fun site, so getting traffic will be an easy task. You just have to promote it. Try social bookmarking.

If you have a youtube account with a decent number of subscribers, that can pay off.

Link baiting, guest blogging, twitter blasts using people on fiverr, plenty of vids here and there.

If you say that your site is fun then create a video for it and upload it to youtube and other video sharing sites then make it go viral thru social networking sites.

If its an entertaining site you can try reddit, stumbleupon or a similar site. If you do it right you can blast off.

I've had some of my product-oriented sites get picked up by these on accident for some reason and rode a wave of traffic for a few days. So if your stuff is good, it can keep getting passed around for a while.

However I've read here of people getting banned from adsense from getting a fat surge in earnings, even for well-known events that obviously creates a surge in traffic..

Really, you can get banned for getting lots of traffic, that doesn't sound fair at all.

      Thanks for the suggestions guys.

      What's link baiting?

I'm a premium member, having reffered over 22 people.

Thing is, I checked yahoo's site checker, and can't see any backlinks... I logged a ticket a few days ago, no reply, and also left a reply on colins blog about this, no reply.

I'll pm him on here I guess.

How do you know it's working by the way?

    Cheers.

I'll still keep submitting for a while to see if they come back.
    You're using yahoo's site explorer? https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites

I've done some backlink gigs on fiverr, and those backlinks also aren't showing up... maybe something's wrong with yahoo.

I'll try market samurai and see if it wants to work today.

      Yeah.. search WF for it.

Link baiting is exactly what it sounds like. You create something that makes people link to you. It can be an article, story, picture, video, thats funny, controversial, or anything. It could be something that gets passed around a lot, and gets ya lots of links.

It can take 1-3 weeks for links to show in YSE. Or longer. Sometimes YSE gets screwy and removes or adds a ton of links in the tool (which doesn't affect you). It doesn't matter if it shows up or not. Just check your rankings to know if its working.
