How Many of You Use Web 2.0 Property (such as Squidoo or Hubpages) for Affiliate Marketing?

Sorry for the long title. Anyway, just curious - how many of you do some sort affiliate marketing on Squidoo, hubpages, etc.? If so, is it because it's better than building a website and more convenient? Also - do you build backlinks to your lens or hubs?

I'm into Hubpages big time but usually write informational stuff. I have a few hubs where I do put amazon products on there - but I'm thinking about doing more of it and really buckle down and do KW analysis on my product before throwing it in a niche...

I only use web 2.0 properties for building links to my own domains, bot as the money making properties themselves.

I use Squidoo and I just noticed one of my lenses using a good keyword is rank#2 on Google. It's not high traffic, just 50-60 visitors to my lens in a week and it is a "buying" keyword so I get conversions.

This is what I wanted to hear. However, I thought Hubpages ranks higher than lens most of the time - at least through my experience. Is this correct?

I don't know because I haven't tried Hubpages. I typically use a very long tail specific keyword that buyers will use. The Squidoo lens is very focused on one topic only and since that is what the visitors are looking for then I get 10-11% conversions on good weeks.

BTW I only use it for CPA free offers. I doubt many people will buy a big ticket item off Squidoo.

They're pretty good for using as link juice sites or somewhere to upload a load of links from a report so they get indexed. Squidoo lenses can rank pretty easily as well for some low to medium competition keywords as well.

I use them mainly for backlinks.

But what I do is build a lot of backlinks to those web 2.0 properties so they pass more link juice to my money site.

And I prefer squidoo over hubpages.
