The "Google Dance" refers to the early volatility of a new page that is just beginning to be promoted. From the moment it is indexed by google, the page will fly up and down rankings almost at random between the first page and not even showing up in the top 100 as Google accesses your value.

This phenomenon lasts for several weeks. The best theory on why it occurs is that Google is attempting to mask their algorithm.

    hope this helps

Google dance happens under normal circumstances to new sites which need to find their rythm. After several weeks and months a site gets stable through constant backlinking, increase in importance, visitors, etc.

The task of you is to build of importance and get your site ranked through backlinking techniques.

Again, this user only posted this to get a backlink. His backlink in the anchor text in his Signature is for an SEO company, do you REALLY think he doesn't know what the term means?

Might be, but still good info is in this thread. My site was dancing around heavily for couple of weeks, before settling at spot 8 and gradually moving to spot 5 during the next weeks. Today, it seemed to have disappeared completely. Eventually found it back at position 600. I find it strange it just randomly happens after weeks of being steady... Any thoughts?

Google Dance is mainly due to lack of trust in your sites, so try to build links which are quality links, building links from authority website would help a lot.
