Basically you are taking all the good links, seo values of your competition and applying them to your site. Kinda like you are taking the best super powers from all the super heroes and applying them to yourself

      I think reverse SEO reflect to the company's product/sales most especially when market is looking for good product to buy and would opt to dig deeper to the reputation of the product hence Reverse SEO is something a company wouldn't want to encounter especially when their product is profound online and revenue share from online market is the highest.

      I remember a cosmetic brand which revenue from online decrease for more than a half because of this strategy. And no doubt it affect company's revenue.

      The disadvantage of Reverse SEO for Google ranking is still debatable and I don't think search engines would base their ranking system on something that can be manipulated that easy.
