I was recently wondering, whether it is better for SEO to build your backlinks directly to the main Blog URL or rather to the single posts?

Thanks in advance!

    Simple answer: Both

Complete answer: You should definitely build links to your inner pages or single posts. For example, if you have an Acne site, you would want to build links to your inner pages that focus on the specific product that you are promoting. You would also want to build links to the homepage because it would look pretty unnatural for there to be hundreds of links to your inner pages and no links to the homepage.

    • Backlink both. Target longtail keywords for your inner pages that you know you can rank by building links to these subpages. Target a more competitive, broader term for the homepage. When you build links to your inner pages, the link juice will transfer over to the root domain as well, effectively allowing you to kill two birds with one stone.

I like to have a mixture of home page and deep links, as I think it looks more natural. It also gives me a chance of ranking for more keywords than you can tackle on a single page.

Whether I link to (or encourage others to link to) my home age or an inner page depends on the type of link.

If I'm doing the initial submission to a list of directories, or looking for general traffic from a forum sig, for example, I'll link to the home page.

If I'm linking from a general topic article to more specific information, I'll deep link to the most appropriate inner page.

I like to have a mixture of keyword-anchored links, url/sitename links and even some 'click here' links - all in the name of looking natural.

You definitely want to backlink to both. In most article directories, you can have two backlinks in the resource box, so you can put a link to your homepage and then to the same article you're submitting that you should have already posted on your site as a blog post or page.

Inner page gain benefit from main page.
Just like why people offering high page rank profile backlink with insane prices.

    Conclusion: Both.
