Can you get slapped on the Google Display network?
How strict are the quality score guidelines compared to the 1 for adwords?

I've tried and failed badly to get any real answers on this -anyone help?

I know this is an older post...unfortunately, the answer is yes. Google uses the same criteria for both PPC and for the display network when it comes to banning advertisers.

So the rules are just as strict then? I always learnt you could get away with alot more on the Display network than on adwords...

Nah, it's nowhere near as strict. I haven't been able to get anything approved on the search network...on Display you can still get old school squeeze pages approved. I had over 60 of them approved just this week.
