Quick Question about Ranking Secondary Keywords!!

Hey everyone, seems like I'm back almost every second day asking a question so I'd just like to say thanks for all the help.

Anyway, I know for ranking your primary keyword you bold the keyword, use it in title, h1 tags, use anchor text as keyword, etc.

How do you go about ranking a secondary keyword? Do you just use it as much as you can as LSI keywords and use it in the odd post title and just primarily rank the secondary keyword by getting backlinks using the anchor text of the secondary keyword?

Any and all help is appreciated,

Thanks

    Hi InTheMaking,

An important thing to understand about SEO is that search engines rank individual pages, not websites. You are not trying to get your "website" to rank for secondary keywords, you are trying to get an individual "page" of your website to rank for secondary keywords.

Obviously, if you create a post/page using your "secondary" keyword in the "page" title, headings anchor text, etc. and then build relevant backlinks to that page/permalink, then you are optimizing for secondary keywords.

Having said that, you can also optimize an individual webpage for secondary keywords by including the secondary words in as many of the import page elements (page title, headings, bold/large text, anchor text, etc..) as you can reasonable do so. And in addtion to building backlinks with the primary keyword as anchor text, build a second set of backlinks to the same page using the secondary keyword as anchor text.
