No probs!

Another thing to mention is that this works extremely well on dofollow blogs.

If you are running Firefox there is a plugin called nodofollow that will help you check for dofollow links in the sidebar.

A good thing about this tip is that you don't necessarily need to sort the blogs by Page Rank because the purpose of the exercise is spread your link around the entire site, your original post might be on a PR0 post but spread around to 100 PR3 posts if you're lucky!

I have noticed that and heard this technique as well... but actually searching for blogs that widget specifically isn't something I'd thought of doing.

One point to add, another common feature on blogs people like to use is the 'top commenters' widget. It takes a little longer to make that list, as you have to contribute more comments to qualify. But the staying power is significantly higher, since it will be longer since you are overthrown from the list.

I have done a little research and these are the most used terms for top commenters widgets:

- "Top Commenters"
- "Top Contributors"

So you can mix up "Recent Comments" with the above two keywords for some staying power in your backlinks. Problem is that there are generally less search results for these keywords, still worth going for though.

I've played with this a little bit since you posted on one of my threads yesterday. Great! I usually expect most comments to be moderated within half a month. A lot of people don't check comments that frequently.

I have experimented a couple of ways to make the most of these viral comments and I personally do the following (although even without doing anything I get great results - I guess from other people pinging for their own comments)

I make a list of all the URLs on the site that your comment went viral on:

INURL:websitedomain.com

Create and spin an article related to his website and in the resource box I would spin all the links, plus a few links to my site and submit to as many directories as I can.

Then I would get these article links, the blog pages, AND a few pages from my site and run them through a social bookmarking campaign.

True, but be creative with the keywords you are searching with, they don't need to be exact, just close enough to your niche. Try broader terms.

It's not just to get the links indexed. It's to create a second layer of backlinking and then a third layer.

It's like a massive link wheel and it gives me the most juice to my target pages as well as indexing the backlinks.

This method does take a little extra work, but it has given me way better results than simply pinging the links until they get indexed.

OK, I've been playing with this search string all evening. I just placed a comment on a page that is PR6 (it's already been approved) and hopefully I can get some oomph from the other pages on that site. Found several other great blogs (PR2-4) to add to my list tonight as well. I definitely had to get creative with the keywords due to the limited search results. Good stuff.

  Thanks, Diane! I was really, really excited about that! It's not instant approval, but apparently the site owner manually approved it within about 15-20 minutes because I checked back and it was live. I definitely put some effort into that comment before submitting it!

Yeah, that's what I used to do to, until I got a bit fancy with it. :p

Your technique tends to yeild a fair amount of results that require signups to comment or don't allow comments at all.

Simply by adding "Post A Comment" or "Leave A Comment", "Have Your Say", (get creative)

And tacking on "Name" "Email" "Website", you only get the Juiciest results.

I just found an auto-approve blog with this feature on it - unfortunately it is PR0 and I doubt any of the pages have any PR either. It seems to be a news scraping site.

Regardless... it has 1900 pages indexed in Google so that's pretty nice...

Good job guys.

It's really one of those perks of doing SEO. By no means is it absolutely necessary, but if you have a page that seems to be stuck in a certain position this technique can usually push you along.

The PR0 blog may not be worth as much but with that amount of pages you would be crazy to go for it while you're there.

Again, as someone mentioned above, finding "best commenter" or something (based on the largest number of approved comments by one user) you will have the potential to keep those backlinks for a lot longer.

You also use this string.

“keyword” inurl:blog ” "post a comment" -"comments are closed" -"you must be logged in"

By using this you will find a blog where comments are allowed and you don't have to be logged in. This process may also help in blog commenting.

A rotten tip. I will say. This is why.....

If you comment on a "recent comment" blog and your comment appears on the widget. Your comment will be all over the website. Let's say the website has 300 links... You will get backlinks from 300 pages from 1 domain. Okay fine... lets move on now...

After 2 days 299 pages don't have your link. You backlinks will come down gradually and also your website. At last you will have ONE backlink at the page in which you commented.

Moreover when you come in the "recent comments widget" you are risking your website from being penalized because Google does not like getting thousands of backlinks from one source.

Seems ok but what I have found is most of the high ranking bogs have NoDoFollow for the comments. So we have to go on searching for proper blogs and bookmark the same for comments. And I think at the end of the day it is the ideas that you contribute to that blog is more important then getting backlinks.

If you're looking purely for DoFollow blogs you'll need the help of a tool. (Scrapebox is definitely what I'd recommend.) Searching for DF blogs manually is a huge pain and time sink.

The tip is very old, it was working about 1 year ago, but now (after the last Penguin update), this could hurt your website, NOT help it (if you have a lot of backlinks from the same domain!!!)

I've never had issues with multiple backlinks coming from a single site. But, then again, at the most I've had about 5. (Occasionally more when a comment is added to a "recent comments" plugin. But these links go away pretty quickly once others make comments.)

Why can't i find any sites with this, even with the most linear keywords like games. Is the only thing you do is replace the keyword area with your kw?

Im having the same problem. After replacing the keyword it just shows SEO type blogs and not blogs related to the keyword.

  Let me tell a quick story.
  
  I was leaving comments on blogs, and 1 day went to check my WMT and saw that I had 4,210 links coming from 1 of the blogs I posted a comment on.
  
  I didn't think of it much at the time and assume it was a mistake.
  
  Untill 2-3 days later, my site began to plummet in rankings.
  
  I went back to look at my backlink profile, and realized that it looked like I had spammed this entire blog. Even though I left one quality comment, my link was on every page, with the same anchor text over 4,000 times.
  
  I don't think recent comments widgets are as good as the OP use to think. Especially with changes in the algo and if you consider how old this thread is.
  
  Here are a few things to think about -
  
  1) If you post on 1 relevant blog post, and your comment displays on every page... is every page on that blog relevant to your niche? For my niche, it was just that 1 page that was relevant, and every other page was NOT relevant to my niche. Thats a great way to kill the relevancy of your backlink profile imo.
  
  2) Is your site young? Don't you think it will look weird when a new site gets thousands of links from the same site, all with the same anchor text?
  
  3) My site didn't drop then come back stronger. It dropped for the entire time my comment was on this 1 blog, for 4 weeks. Untill I got fed up and posted a bunch of comments on the same blog without my link, to get my original comment bumped off the widget.
  
  Then guess what happened? My links went down in WMT and my ranks came back up a few days later.
  
  You can say this was coincidence. But I would not try this "technique" without considering that this thread was made 3 years ago.
  
  In fact, I have stopped commenting on blogs because so many of them have recent comments widgets. And since my niche is small, its impossible to find an entire site thats relevant to my niche. Its usually just 1 random article here and there.
  
  People may say, "just use your name" for the anchor text, but I still don't think thats a smart idea. Because I had used my name when I left the comment. I doubt the crawlers think, "oh, it a name, so it can't be a keyword". Like I can't target a name as a keyword to sell a book about how to name your baby or something.
  
  My main point is, this thread is old. So don't just jump into this w/out considering that its 2013, and it could potentially harm your site like I believe it harmed mine.

i was considering this was the reason why i am getting 8k back links from 1 domain? it has steadily risen over the last week or so and topped at 8k! (pinbud.co.uk) is the domain where i get all my links!

think this is what has happened to me, and since i am unsure where i come up on google i have no idea if this is harming my website!:confused:
