Excerpt Box Missing from Wordpress Post Editor

i just purchased a new domain and hosting account through host gator this past saturday. everything is just fine expect when i go to "add new post", the "excerpt" text box is not there. how can i make the "excerpt" box appear. i have 3 other sites and this is the first time i am seeing this

    Unfortunately the exerpt box is not there by default in the new wordpress version. Click on "screen options" on the top right corner of your screen and put a tick in show the exerpt box option.
