Here is the situation, if I do a search:

site:mysite com = 10,000 results.
sitewww)mysite com = 1 result.

In Webmaster tools I have not submitted a sitemap for the (WwW) version as I was scared of duplicate content. Should I do this? I notice when I do similar results for other sites, they bring up loads both site: search.

If your site is having duplicate content, then its better to include original content because Google takes this matter seriously and always lowers the ranking of that site. and its good if you submit a sitemap of your website to Google Webmaster tools so that Google crawler can crawl your website and you can then achieve good ranking on SERP

Should I submit for both considering that they are the same website?>

actually I have just submitted the http only and haven't seen any problem about duplicate content so far...so dont worry submit http and then if google webmaster tool says that your site has duplicate content then submit the other www. then you will be fine...well that was my experience and correct me if I am wrong...
