Can Anyone Explain This?

So every time I go after a high search count keyword in my niches I find that the sites ranked in the top ten have these types of backlinks.

As you can see its basically gibberish with links interwoven in mostly non relevant content but the pages are high PR, usually PR 4 and up. This particular page is just an example but there are tons that all look basically the same. The site in which this page was linking to that was ranking high in my niche had tons and tons of these PR4 and up gibberish style backlinks.

My question is does anyone know if these are personal blog networks? I would think it is but ive seen so many of these style pages backlinking to so many sites that it makes me think its part of a service like a high PR seo link vine type of thing. Also since there are so many, sometimes thousands backlinking to the same page it would seem near impossible to setup a personal network that big, with different IP's and such high PR's but I could be wrong. I ask because as the saying goes if you can't beat em, join em.

  • It is gibberish like this that causes Google to apply the algorithm changes like the recent Panda changes. This stuff needs to be removed from the internet!

    Personally and business-wise, I wouldn't 'join them'.
  • How does that garbage get a PR4? I didn't look real hard, but I saw no comments on this site, or are they profile links on another page?

    • Its crazy I see this all over the place. My guess is that its a private blog network. Im assuming they post everyday with totally spun gibberish so it appears as unique content, since they post often and the pages stick around they build PR. They probably also build PR by linking tons of these pages with high PR together which makes them even stronger. Then you throw backlinks to your pages and BAMM! You're first page google.

      Worst thing is I see this almost everywhere I go for good long tail keywords. This makes it really hard to compete since whoever these people are can basically get unlimited PR 4-7 backlinks.
  • PR4 because That site is in a network of PR4+ sites.
    So all sites are interlinked to get this site to PR4 status as well.

    Lol, that's the same type of backlinks Google smacked down JcPenney for running.

    If you check the backlinks for any of the backlinks in the OP link, chances are you'll find a bunch of similar jibberish backlink sites/pages.

    Most of the time when a backlink is posted on a site like that (jibberish) they don't just post the link on a single crappy site. They will create hundreds of similar sites for the sole purpose of selling backlinks.

    BTW, JcPenney didn't know anything about those type of backlinks. [wink, wink]

    actually there these type of links are also needed to get traffic. but from my short knowledge i can say that these links are not needed for high PR. search in the links there are useful links too. for that reason this type of sites are still at a good Position.
