Which says how if two links point to the same target then the first link will count but the second link will be ignored (in the eyes of Google).

So I'm assuming that means when people post content online somwhere to build backlinks for there site and they put more than two links to the same target that they've basically wasted there time.

Is this old news or what?

  • I don't think it is waste of time. The more back links one gets to his product the better sales one can make.

    • I usually put a keyword targeted link first and then another link with my URL. Definitely doesn't hurt in any way.
  • i think, more back links helps you to improve the ranking of your website with proper keyword. so i must say, make more back links. if you want to improve the ranking of your website.
  • I just read the same article and made a quick CSS adjustment to my site regarding the logo. But hadn't thought about it the way you just stated it. I will check my articles and see if I get credit for each or just the first! good point.
  • I don't think it is wastage of time.A link is ultimately a link and it is valuable at any cost.If doesn't help in increasing rank but it will provide more traffic.
