Hi,

So far I only targeted low or medium competition keywords. I guess to be successful with high competition keyword you need to do some more agressive SEO. I was wondering what techniques (besides the usual ones) you guys use if you try to rank for these keywords? Or you just do more link building than for a low comp. keyword?

You have to do heavier backlinking with more high PR sites. It works the same as low comp keywords, just a bit more work.

The backlinking strategies are still working, however, for longevity you'll need to invest in well-written, quality content. Couple those links with quality content and the rank will come. Oh yes, it will come.

For high competition keywords you need to get more backlinks from your all competitors.

Blast out articles all over the internet with the high paying keywords in there and the ranking will come.

I'd say you need more links, but some links from the big players such as PR3, PR4 and PR5 pages. So when I'm going for a competitive term, I will get a nice large base of lower PR links, but really focus on building 4-5 high PR links each day. This is mainly done by finding high PR blogs to comment on.

If you want to rank well for high competition keyword then i think the best way is to get backlinks from high PR and 7 plus year old websites.

Does hosting play any role in seo?
I am asking this because a hosting provider is claiming that if i host my site on their server then i will get ranked top on google .
    Is it true?

Hi Before you start doing SEO for your keyword make a strategy first

I think you should start with article writing. Once you set up an account on any popular article submission site (ezine, buzzle & more) start with one article. Till the time your article will be published (3 to 4 days on high pr site) you can do social bookmarking on sites with high page rank and alexa rank. Once your article gets published modify the same article in the form of press release and submit it on prlog. The press release is published instantly and this is why you have to make sure that you publish it at time when you think you have most audience.

last month i submitted a press release and i got 600 views in an hour. Any way. Now you can start participating in blogs and forums. this is a good way to increase ranking. Beside link posting you need to write good content too. Article marketing has been proved most efficient way to get good ranking for high comp keywords.

Hope this helps you. All the best!!

    Regards

Definitely get higher PR links. I get a diverse mix of links, but generally my higher PR links are from blog commenting.
