I've been analyzing what my competitors have been doing to rank high on Google, and I've found that they're typically using articles hosted on their website that are highly relevant to a specific search term. Then, they're backlinking all over the internet to that specific page with that specific keyword so that when someone searches that term it will rank super high on Google. I'm sure they've done this over a long period of time to have their actual domain ranking so high. My domain is only about 1 month old so it will be a real chore to host articles on my website to rank high. But rather than do that, I was thinking about posting articles on eZineArticles and eHow, which already have a high page rank, and then backlinking to these articles around the internet. That way, I won't have to lift my site from the basement all the way up to page 1. And I'll get pretty much the same result.
Backlinking to eZineArticles/eHow/etc...?

A couple of questions for you guys who are experienced in SEO:
1. How many backlinks do I need to establish to do this? I know it's different for each search term. But ballpark... are we talking 15-20 links or 150-200 links? Remember, I'm backlinking to an already high page rank domain.
2. How long will this process take? I know that it would probably take months to build the rank of my domain, but someone told me that it might only take 1 month or so to rank eZineArticles or eHow articles high because they already have a boost from the domain's page rank.
3. Do you recommend building backlinks to the backlinks? I've heard that doing that makes sure that your page ranks high and stays high over the long term. But it would be an incredibly daunting task if I had to do that to over 150-200 links...
