  Yea, and also my understanding of this is that you are then creating reciprocal links between the two sites which from what I have heard Google doesn't really value. I prefer to ignore pingbacks but would be interested to hear some other opinions on this.

For me its' not worth it try to implement other useful SEO techniques to improve your site's rankings.

Pingback Requests

I have been receiving numerous "pingback requests from a site asking to add something I created to their site. I am assuming this is a good thing as it gets yourself further exposure and all builds backlinks. I do have 2 areas for concern: 1. Is this considered duplicate content?
