I am going nuts with this site and need advice of experienced Warriors

I own a little weight loss site which shot up in rankings like crazy. I am on page #1 for keywords i would have never dreamed of - and traffic is literally exploding in the last month. Right now i am getting almost 600 visitors/daily and climbing.

The problem is, unless my other sites i have a hard time to monetize this site.

I already try/tried the usual clickbank weight loss products with banners and reviews and they seem not to sell AT ALL. This puzzles me since i use the same format on other sites with way less traffic where it works.

Then i made a downloadable ebook from PLR which i sell cheap, but this doesn't really sell either.

Adsense is not better, unless i get the site up to 1000/1500 dailies or even more perhaps.

So i am thinking about ways to monetize this site, for example i already got requests for "advertizing opportunities" by companies which sell fitness equipment.

My question here is what would be reasonable to charge for advertising space given my current traffic?

When i was talking to my wife she actually gave some interesting comment, she said "people interested in weight loss want a quick fix...so sell weight loss pills"

Great idea actually. What affiliate programs are there for supplements which convert well and pay decently?

I'd appreciate the advice of someone in the same niche and how they monetize their sites.

Have you had a look where your traffic is coming from, and what terms they are typing in?

If the majority of search terms leading to your site involve FREE topics (eg free weightloss tips) then its going to be hard to monetize.

You could try some banner ads that pay via CPM, that might work OK

      Hope this helps

        Try CPM:

        BurstMedia.com

        and Contexual Linking:

        InfoLinks.com

Track the data then gradually add your own offers from the behavioral data that you've gained.

GeorgR, I would love to know too.

I have a weight loss site that is getting over 1500UV now but am disappointed with my inability to take full advantage of the site. I don't have time at the moment to give it the respect it deserves but have tried list building with it in the past. Sign up rates were slow despite the value I thought I was giving.

I believe it is the best way to go with a weight loss site but when people are entering for different reasons I found it hard to find a product everyone was interested in. I haven't tried too hard though to be honest. If I had the time to put into it I would be generating unique offers for your main traffic pages.

I monetise with AdSense otherwise and get a decent CTR but an eCPM of only $40. There are products in the weight loss market that do generate clicks higher than $1 though but the traffic isn't there.

I haven't tried selling CPM advertising but have sold links for $30/month on 1 PR4 page. Not a lot really.

I'd love to hear from people who have had some success with the industry using general content sites too so will stay tuned.

I would also go with OfferVault, create an account, search for 'weight loss' and then pick a few products and apply for those CPA networks if you are not a member of them.

I guess this is probably a matter of informational vs commercial keywords

How about directing them to a page optimized for some expensive weight loss associated keyword and then your adsense revenue may go up (as a last resort of course)

Theoretically, I guess you can have a poll and ask them what they are looking for

I have also seen these tracking software where you could track the complete behavior. They basically show you a video of what your visitors are doing. With that kind of visitors, I would invest in such a software and see what these guys are up to, which kind of information are they after etc. etc.

    Hope that helps!

Instead of trying to monetize immediately, why not create a kick-butt ebook and give it away to build a list. Set up an autoresponder that sends out GOOD weight loss tips, diet menus, etc every few days or once a week so you're sending good content. Then promote affiliate products in your newsletters and sell solo ads. Might work better than trying to sell on the first visit. For that matter, you could throw a couple of affiliate links into the free ebook, too.

Okay this may sound a little crazy, but why not try doing a survey. You know some of them pop up just like your sign up for your list does. That way you could really find out what it is your readers are wanting. The best way to really monitize this kind of site is to help them get exactly what they want. The best way to find that out is just ask them.

I hope this helps. Just so you know I run a website in the rawfood and nutrition niche.(This one is just personal love of mine and not so much for my business) So I know sometimes it can be difficult to get monetized, but sometimes it is how we are setting our page up and where our traffic is coming from. Is the site one that readers come to with a thought to buy something or one where they wish to come and learn? Just a thought. Like I said I would ask them what it is that they want and it would give you a more detailed idea of what to go looking for to give them.

As far as diet pills and supplements. You can find them in a lot of places from Amazon to CJ.

      Hope this helps.
