So let me give you guys a little background: The site about 4 month old. I Have good original content on each post. I started backlinking slowly but backed off for a bit. I was on page one for certain post for about a week or 2 and all of sudden not only do I disappear from page 1 but so do my other posts that were on page 2. They are no where to be found. The site and posts are not de-indexed cause they are still in Google's search results. I used site:mysite.com to check.

I used different proxies but I have not seen any of the posts on Google when looking for the keyword.

Is this Google dance? Or beginning stages of de-indexing? Is it common to see this and will I regain my position?
#dance #de-indexing #google #page

It's possible to be ranking for longtails that you don't know about.

    Are you getting any traffic?

No Traffic. Some posts could be seen in the SERPS if i type in keyword phrase along with the name of my site.

Wait for 6-7 days. This will change and stabilize soon. If possible, try doing some backlinking in next 5-6 days to help G stabilize your SERP.

I'd say there is a good chance this is. I've had sites vanish for a month before only to return stronger than before.

A month? wow long period. Is there certain amount of time that "Google Dance" will be active for? Or is it randomly based site to site?

Wow. Im not sure why this happened. Im pretty sure this is random SERP drop and not a massive one that effects many sites.

Just wondering if this is what they call "Google Dance" cause I've never experienced this before.

To determine whether it's a major change or not I'd go around on this site and other similar forums and blogs and look at whether the buzz is that there's been a major Google update.

4 months is a pretty new site. It may be the dreaded sandbox.

I've just had the same happen to me! Been on page 1 for a number of keywords and getting up to 100 uniques a day, now I'm nowhere with no traffic!

I hope it is just a Google dance and it does come back soon.

Should I be builiding backlinks to my posts. or my domain cause my domain seems to be fine. Its just my posts. They use to be on page 1 and now they're gone.

So you guys are all suggesting that its just "Google Dance" has someone had this experience before? And if so how long would "the dance" last for?

I had this happen with my site too. I think it was a result of some problems with my page and the Google Panda update. You might want to ask in the Google Web Developers Forum - they gave me some pointers on what to work on and now I'll just have to wait and see what happens. It's very discouraging, but hopefully things will improve.

...It's most likely the "Google Dance"...continue to build manual backlinks and you should see your rankings stabilize after a few weeks.

On March 1st one of my sites went from mid 400's a day to 23 a day and remained this way till late March.

The last 20 days it has averaged 734 uniques a day.
I knew it would come back as it was getting good traffic beforehand and I did nothing out of the ordinary to warrant the change. I simply forgot about it and concentrated on other sites.

BTW, stop checking your stats every day.

Thanks for the info. Your rate I just have to build slowly and keep my eyes off it for while.

I've had some google dancing before, but it was between a few pages, not from page one to <100. Sounds like a bigger problem to me.

So Google Dance can be described to sites that go up and down in the SERPS by only a couple of pages?

Hey Topper what kinda of backlinks do you use?

Yeah Google dance can happen in fact it's happening all over for so many other ppl's websites, one thing though is to be consistent on your backlinking effort. DO NOT STOP until you see it comes back into the ranking, that's what happened to me most of the time so if you persist it WILL come back and stick around, and there's where you can slack off a bit..

It could be a lot of things. You say you were back linking slowly, what was the volume? Those definitions can vary person to person

Here are other things you need to consider, your competitors may be out working you. You were backlinking, doing good..you stopped...then you dropped. Maybe your competitors DIDN'T stop backlinking and now they have the upper hand.

Maybe google changed its algorithm and your site is now "less interesting". I definitely would start backlinking again as it doesn't sound like you were "Blasting" it enough to get sandboxed or anything.

A good rule of thumb is backlink a new site 50 times a day, and about 100-150 a day for more aged domains and then up from there. An aged domain being one thats been around 6 months OR a newer one thats been back linking steadily 50 times a day for a few weeks.

Find a good backlinking program, backlink your site and then make sure you ping them! If google doesn't crawl your backlinks, then whats the point, right?

So just to answer your other question. I did article marketing for a while it was a blast of 1000 and then I wrote a couple of my own articles and post them on various sites like squidoo and hubpages and finally I used socialadr to keep up with bookmarking. I did all of this in short period of time, lets say 2 weeks. I stopped for about a week and couple of days and then everything dropped. I dont see them no more.

Thanks for tips, I'll definitely keep backlinking on a daily basis but keep it low since my site is only about 4 months old.

Its possible the article blasts hurt you, you went from 0 links a day to a 1000+ and that is risky. I suggest you keep building links slowly and cross your figners

Don't sweat it, happens all the time to me. Just start working on a different site for a while and come back to that one later, haha. Sometimes i hit the first page and stay there, sometimes I'm no where to be found for MONTHS after linkbuilding and then all of a sudden I hit the first page, sometimes I go up and down and then end up on the first page. You never know what will happen!

    quite sad

the reason might could be of backlinking to bad sites, because the Big G really dont like the bad company of neighbours. The best practice is to make sure you are linking to noble sites and keep on checking it out whether the site you linked to is still has got some ranks.

    Regards.
