What should I do?

Hi all,

I have a quite new blog. I started to build backlinks. I was an idiot, because I created anchor text for keywords that have loads of competition.
I have few PR1-PR5 backlinks with the anchor text "Blogging tips and SEO".
I didn't target long-tail keywords.

Now what should I do? Should I build more backlinks with the same anchor text or should I target long-tail keywords?

  • Just re-optimize for the keyword that you want to target, and keep building links using the anchor text that you want to use. Balance the links out, so to speak.

    As a rule of thumb, I will ALWAYS build a few other links using related terms as my anchor text. In my experience, it doesn't matter the slightest. I mean, at the end of the day, if you are creating awesome content, people are going to link to it from other sites with random anchor text, right?

    Just keep building those links, and it should all pan out well.

    • Re-optimize using those keywords for which you want ranking. Use anchor text as those keywords which you want ranking and try to get backlinks.
  • move on with your new decision....it won't hurt you. as simple as that.
  • I agree with SEOPsychic - move on to the long-tail keywords for now, and don't worry about the others - you have created some great backlinks with related (though not keyword specific) anchor text. Now it's time to move forward to more backlinks with your long tail keyword as anchor text.
