Suddenly Rankings Drop

Hi ,

all webmasters and SEOs, I do need your help to find out whats the actual problem is . I have a clickbank affiliate site( 1 year old) which was consistently getting traffic from Google (300 to 500 Unique Visit per day ) before yesterday . Its wordpress blog and i merely update it . Right now it has 15 or so pages but it was stick on number 1 or 2 for its main optimized keyword since last 3 or 4 months . but yesterday its suddenly lost its rankings . For main keyword now its on number 8 position and all the traffic seems to lost as well for other keyword those were generating traffic.

can anyone tell me why its happening , is it a temporary Google dance or Google has penalized my rankings for some reasons ? I have right now more than 1500 links according to yahoo explorer build by all free methods article marketing , forum profile , forum posting , some high PR blog commenting etc .

I did a server transfer as well recently 5 days ago could that can be a possible reason but same thing i did it for my several other sites as well but those have no effect on its rankings whatsoever.
#drop #rankings #suddenly

First of all - how many words are on each page?

Google is really looking for hefty content on each page after its last algo rollout.

Second - are you backlinks from mostly relevent websites? Everyone is guilty of this - but maybe G is cracking down on this.

Third - How long ago was this? It it was yesterday - give it a few days and keep backlinking. I had a client that had his whole site go down - but was back up within the week at the #2 position.

    Hope this helps...

Yip, don' worry about it. I've just had a site that was 4 months old vanish off the radar for about a month, but it's now back to page one. This is quite common early on. Just keep building quality backlinks to it.

well , yes its only 2 days since this happened to my site . I have about 500 Word content on every pages of my blog. As i mentioned in my OP that i build back links from free sources with article marketing , forum posting , dofollow and nofollow high PR blog commenting , Forum Profiles etc . The only source of getting relevant links is article directories. i didn't do any kind of link exchange with relevant sites so far . Let just hope it to come back with some more quality back linking

There may be two reasons behind the this.the premium reason is may be some of your existing backlinks have been deleted or may be the sites that took the first 7 positions now have more quality backlinks than yours.

well , if this is a reason then still i should be getting some traffic from from other keywords which seems to be just lost completely . Right now i am only ranking on number 8 position for my main keyword in google.com . strange thing is that i am getting traffic from only google.co.in and still ranking on #1 for my same keyword but this traffic is completely useless for me as far as my sells are concerned

Mine think your website traffic may reason to drop page rank down .you should hire back links on your website and also make social book marking for your website to get again high page ranking .

what a joke . my traffic is the reason .? do you really think that only social bookmarking can bring back my website whereas i have many PR 6 and PR 7 pointing back to my website and this Pr on not on home page its on actual page where my link is !

it's been 2 months now since Google did this algo change , do you really think my site would be affected after 2 months  and why only this one i have several other sites as well and those are still ranking pretty good doing the same thing. perhaps this update was for content farms and i already mentioned that i merely update my blog and content is 100 unique not a spun version .

Hi since this conversation is about backlinks, please accept my question in this thread. I am relatively new to article writing. I wrote a few back in 2007. I think I understand back links for wordpress blogs but do not understand back links for articles. Where do people put the back links for an article.
    thanks Kathryn

The same places you put backlinks to a blog, meaning the same ways you build backlinks to your blog, you can build backlinks to your articles.

However, I wouldn't build backlinks to your articles if they are on other peoples sites, I only build links to my own sites. People are kind of split on this issue though.

It appears that your website is facing problem because of focussing only on affiliate ads. Not sure how did you placed your ads but in recent times Google is penalizing sites focussing only in getting sales from their websites. I have faced such problem. But you were lucky you are still on page 1 you can get back to #1 with slow and steady link building.

I have run a brick and mortar business in a very competitive field for the past 20 years, and reading the competition's advertising is something I was doing 20 years ago.

If being #1 or #2 for one keyword is a major source of your traffic (money), you are a fool not to keep track of what the other eight or nine guys on page one are doing. Have you even bothered to run a backlink checker on all of the competing sites and see if anyone else has been doing a lot of backlink building lately? For that matter, are the eight or nine others the same ones that have been there all along, or is there any new competition?

Assuming nothing else has changed, then you need to go through your own backlinks. If you have built any recently, then your site is Google dancing. If not, then you need to check carefully for link decay. Some links are more stable than others, and some are very unstable.

ahh .you are not even reading my Op before posting

      great!!

or you are habitual to doing posts like you did on my thread . its just not matter of a particular keyword , my all traffic coming from other keywords as well seems to be lost . by the way I build links for my sites regularly , even they are on number 1 for my targeted terms . As far as my competitors are concerned , none of them seems to have batter links than my blog in both terms -Quality And Quantity . Well, this thread was only to share warriors experience if they have faced such situation not to check my primary source of income or traffic .

      anyway thanks ....

    I usually ask myself

    1. is the content unique?
    2. is the content readable, understandable, useful?
    3. did you look to see if you have NEW competition?

I had two auto content spam sites for the last 3 years, I like to play with them and change things around to see what happens. Both were getting 3-8k per month. 1 site is averaging 2-6k a month still and getting stronger again. The other site went down to 200 visits a month before I moved it to cash parking.

I honestly think from my experience SEO has very little to do with the overall ranking, Usability, Functionality and Uniqueness, make your rankings higher.

The only reason I say that is because I analyze webmaster tools for traffic vs bounce rate vs content, check the page fix what I think needs to be fixed and it usually works. First I get a lower bounce rate, then comes more traffic.
