Hey warriors,

I wanted to ask one question:

Can my site still gain authority in Google eyes if I start update my blog regularly and build backlinks, or is it better to create a new blog (I have posted just about 10 posts)?

Thanks

If your new blog is focusing on one niche, then it's worth to work on it. If your new blog content more than 1 niche, I guess most of WF members will suggest you to update your old blog. To be rank well on search engine, your blog should has SEO and high quality backlinks and not the quantity.

What you need for ranking in the SERP's is high quality and quantity of backlinks. The only essence of time is in terms of that "time requirement" to be able to achieve just that i.e. high quality and quantity of backlinks.

Also, you can still rank highly with just 10 posts. It is just that the keyword phrases you can rank for will be limited given the number of posts.

You won't be "penalized" for the time in which you took a break from posting, if that's what you're asking. Just start posting more consistently (and build backlinks of course!) and you will go up in the rankings.

I've just ranked a site at #8 in Google for it's main term that gets 3,000+ UV a month and has $2 CPC, it's only around a week. Quality not quantity is the solution.

I've got some sites ranking quite well; when I started them out, they only had one or two pages of content on them, yet still got decently ranked; as they rose in the SERPs, I thought about them and now - now, I've switched to better themes and am adding relevant, related content so I have more inner pages, targeting related, but different, keywords than the main page. I know that one-pagers can still do well, but right now, I'm all about having at least 5 to 10 useful pages of information for the visitor.

They're (I imagine) more likely to return that way, and there's more incentive for them to browse through the site if they're interested in the particular niche.
