How is this possible?

I ran a Market Samurai SEO Competition query today and I am a bit confused. If you see in the attached that the site in #4 has a G index count of 14, 50 page backlinks and 70 domain backlinks. How is this site on page one? I know I have less backlinks than the sites below me, but that site has nothing.

Look forward to your input.

Thanks much,

Scott

  • The domain might be REALLY old, or the incoming links might be very high PR/have very high link value.

    • Exactly. Try to do more research and see what you can come up with. There could be other factors responsible this mix up.

  • There's always a couple like that. Could be really good on page seo, plus I see they do have a DMOZ entry. Sometimes things don't always make sense, but seeing the sites may help.

  • I recently came across a new site (7 days old) that are sitting at #1 for a rather competitive terms with no backlink at all. no exact keywords in title or domain. Just doesn't make sense at all.

    • Well, whatever their marketing team is doing my hat is off to them. They are now #2. LOL Great job!
