Strategies for getting to top of bing?

I am starting to get disillusioned with Google, unless you are wiki, amazon, ebay or some other leviathan the chances of getting anywhere near front page on main keywords is near enough impossible since all google care about is revenue...

Does anyone EVER get #1 to Google without gaming the system in any way whatsoever?

To this end I am thinking about focusing my efforts more on Bing and Yahoo and seeing how things progress, I know that it is not wise to ignore Google, but I seem to think that fighting with everyone else is a losing strategy; I prefer virgin territory

To this end, does anyone have or can point me to ways to get higher results in the 2 underdog search engines?

It doesn't matter in wht search engine you want to rank your site, it is all about backlinks.

You can build backlinks by submitting your site to social bokmarking sites, posting on forums (include your link in your sig), writing articles (guest blogging, article directories, hubpages, squidoo) and using other ways as well.

You shouldn't forget to optimaze your site for a specific keyword and when you build backlinks you want to make your achor text as the keyword that you want ot rank for about 50% of the time and another 50% of the time include relevant keyword or just give a link, otherwise Google will think you are trying to trick the system.

I don't have much of a problem beating Amazon, ebay or other large companies for main keywords.

You just have to put the work in, moving to another seach engine is not going to offer you an easy short cut.

  • Based on my experience.

Aim to be at the top of Google and do all the things that work for them.

You'll often find yourself at the top of Bing as a side-product, and usually before you reach the top of Google.

It doesn't matter what search engine you decide to use -- it is all about backlinks in the end as someone else said above.

When it comes to Google, the backlinking process is a tad bit harder than it is than over at Yahoo! or Bing. Focusing on only Yahoo! or Bing is something I really wouldn't recommend you to do as they just receive a bit traffic in comparison with Google who practically owns the market at the moment.

I optimize my websites for Google, and don't even care about Yahoo! or Bing. I rank good there anyways...

I'm not sure why, but for Yahoo and Bing aggressive blog commenting and profile links raise my SERPs fast in them. Google is a whole 'nother level, but try mass link building for Bing and Yahoo.
