Using Landing Pages With Google Adwords

Hi everyone
I've not done any PPC since last year and I believe it has changed quite a bit recently. However, I have noticed a lot of people that are sending people to landing pages without much other content just like in previous years. Any tips, advice related to this would be very helpful. I obviously want to get the optin but I don't want to get account banned. :confused:

I got the Google slap and had much success with other PPC programs like 7 search and Facebook PPC. There are other alternatives for traffic and especially the good ole keyword tool to do your research always helps BUt Google is known to rack in the optins so I would go with their advice above
