Does Google Forgive A Mistake? (Adsense)

Sorry if this has been asked hundreds of times before over here, but since I couldn't find a straight answer, I decided to start a new thread.

I first started using the Internet in 2005, when I was in my early teens. (No, this is not a long-winding story; please continue reading!) I was quick to come across the concept of Internet marketing (perhaps it was destiny ) and within a few days I had a short list of methods for earning money online. No prizes for guessing what was on the top of my list - Adsense!

Now I don't exactly remember how popular or how complex Adsense was back then, because I was just starting to understand the whole concept (not that I've become an expert now; I'm still clueless!). Anyway, I signed-up for an account and slapped some ads on my blogger site.

Then, just as any other innocent teenager would do, I er...tried to cheat by clicking my own ads I thought I was being smart, because I had a dynamic IP address, which gave me a fresh IP whenever I wanted. Of course, just as thousands of others had failed using that trick, I ended up getting my account banned as well.

<<Fast Forward to 2011>>

Not that I've learned a lot in these 5-6 years, but I understand things better now. I haven't tried to appeal for getting back my Adsense account all these years, but I'm starting to get attracted to the whole concept yet again, especially since I'm armed with more knowledge now to drive legit traffic to my site.

Whew, that was a long and winding story, wasn't it? Sorry about that. My question is, since there's been such a long gap, is there a chance that I could revive my Adsense account with an appeal? I've heard some people claim that if the appeal is written well-enough and Google has enough proof to see that my site is getting a lot of traffic, they just might consider enabling the account again.

So, will Google forgive a youngster's innocent mistake and give him a second chance, or will I have to be content with using a partner's account?

  • Hi - Safest route to use a partner's account for now I think... regards Allen

    • Thanks for the quick reply; I was just wondering whether it would be worth the time to appeal to Google? I think they only allow one appeal so would it work if I admitted my crime and prove to them that I'm good now?

  • First let me just say that the fact that you had an account when you were still in your early teens means that you were underage and unable to agree to the terms legally, and that alone is enough to get an account disabled. When you do something that voids the terms, adsense really doesn't even have to give you a reason for closing your account, except that you did not fulfill the terms.

You could try to file an appeal by correcting the issues and then filing an appeal. But in truth, there's very little chance of you having any success at getting your account back.

    • That was a long time and i'm sure most people who put up adsense clicked there ads a few times. I would just start a new account. Also if your really interested in making money with IM - spend some time learning IM as adsense is rarley a large part of an IM'ers income.

  • Like the first poster said oh are better off using a family members name or your wife or girlfriend or whatever. Because google is NOT very forgiving and they will ban you for life at the drop of a hat. They are a huge business and they are not worries about one little fish in a sea of sharks and whales. But you can try if you really want it in your own name.

  • You have everything to gain and nothing to lose by writing a well thought out request for reconsideration of your account.
In the event that you are rejected at least you will know where you stand in the matter and will then be able to proceed accordingly.
    Good Luck

    • Forget the explanation to google. It's not an innocent mistake - you deliberately tried to cheat and got caught. In addition, you lied about your age.

If you have left the issue alone since 2005, you may be able to get a new account - at least there's a chance.

If you have reapplied since your ban and been rejected - forget it. An explanation won't help.

  • Thanks everyone for the valuable advice you've given me. Sorry for not being able to quote each of your responses, but I'd just like to thank you for giving me some encouragement (as well as the bare facts) about this issue. Although like some of you said there's a slim chance of getting back my account, theres no harm in trying Thanks again, warriors!

I humbly submit to you that your bigger and more significant issue is coming to terms with what is actually right and wrong and taking responsibility for your own actions and their subsequent consequences.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • No friend, I don't think you will have your account back. You could try contacting them coz you got nothing to lose.

    • You can re-apply but in your case it will be nearly impossible to get another adsense account. Google's policies are stricter toward webmasters who are from China and India. In your case you will need to own a site for at least 6 months before you can apply for an adsense account.

Taking your history into account and the stricter policies, I think it is almost impossible for you to get a new account.

But there is no harm in trying.

You can also consider opening an account with another program like Kontera and there a few others that are similar to adsense.

  • why not trying with other things. Apply again but not for the previous one.
  • You can try but the problem with Google is they are not so forgiving. I would suggest you apply under your father, sisters, brothers name.

    • Yaa this ^,It is the best idea.Don't waste your time by appealing because you won't get any answers.
  • you can register a business in your country. open a business bank account and apply for adsense using your business name.
  • To send an appeal simply doesnt work, my account was disabled for invalid click activity and it surely wasnt done by me, i mean thats why you tick "i wont click on my own ads" right?

Anyway, I've tried to appeal about 4 times, which takes some time.. .AND, nothing!
Never heard a word from google after typing my long stories FOUR times, explaining what i THINK went wrong, asking them to give me a clear answer but nope...

Go with Chitika or any other site similar to adsense, there are quite a few popping up lately
  • Yikes, I have no idea but I wish you good luck!!!
