Most of us who are new to the SEO, don't know about web2.0. I have tried to explain it according to my little knowledge. Please add more into this discussion.

Web 2.0 is combination of different technologies which allowing the customers to interact with the information.
Web2.0 is just like the social communitiess on internet. youtube, myspace, sqidoo, friendster, facebook, technorati, del.icio.us, digg, netscape, stumbleupon are all web2.0 services.

The websites of web2.0 have high Google PR. Now, web 2.0 is very easy to create backlinks to our website/blog.

For example youtube, if we want to make backlinks there, just sign up there and insert URL of our website/blogs at your profile. So, when someone comes to your profil, they will see your website information and they will go to your website. So, you can get traffic from there.

These method i use is to help me for building authority sites for long terms use.

Now, facebook is very popular site. Why not we just put URL of our website/blogs there. Take advantages from this site and other web 2.0.

You should not only depend upon the web2.0 links only to promote your website. You should also get links from other blogs and forums as well.

    Hi rtailor,

Essentially Web 2.0 refers to any web based platform that allows the users to contribute content. For example, this forum is quintessential Web 2.0.

The websites of web2.0 have high Google PR.
Websites don't have PR, Google assigns PR to individual pages, not websites. The most popular pages of some web 2.0 properties have high PR because they are popular, it is their popularity that is responsible for the high PR. Certainly the fact that they are Web 2.0 may contribute to their popularity.

You should not only depend upon the web2.0 links only to promote your website. You should also get links from other blogs and forums as well.
Blogs and forums are also Web 2.0, generally any website that lets visitors post content is Web 2.0 and that includes most places that you would be able to create a backlink on a website owned by someone other than yourself.
