How AdSense Clicks Actually Work?

Is there anyone out there lucky enough to have a clear answer on this? I have researched and researched finding nothing but theories.

Why is it I will get 10 clicks on a site worth $3.27 and the very next day on the same site I will get 12 clicks worth .49c?

Why are some clicks worth actual dollars and some clicks worth 2 cents?

    Maybe it depends on the amount that advertisers pay, meaning that the number of ads displayed on your page depends on the amount

    That was an idea but I only have one horizontal strip at the top right now. Maybe some ads are worth more? Maybe it depends on how long that person stays on the ad's site? *shrug*

    Depends on what link is clicked. Different advertisers set different max CPC.

      Some say that fewer ad units makes the CPC get higher as the advertisers are bidding up on a spot.

        The reasoning is since you have fewer ads showing, only the top paying ads get displayed. This prevents a user from clicking on a 2nd or 3rd ad unit with lower paying advertisers.

    if you want high paying ads, i'll advise using only two adsense blocks...this way only the highest bidder ad shows and will be clicked

    I guess now there is also an option for the advertisers to change the bid for their ad every day. This might be the reason you are getting different amount for the same ad clicks.
