Does PageRank still work?

Hello,

I've read some weeks ago on other boards that PR doesn't work (update) anymore. Is this true?
I've some sites and I'm improving them to raise their PR, Alexa Rank, etc. by Traffic, SEO tools and backlinks from sites with high PR (I'm paying for these links.

  • PR stills update! Whoever told you no is a liar. However be careful with paid links.
  • Well, yeah it still updates once in a while, but the real question is: why do you care about it? It doesn't affect your rank, and neither does your Alexa rating. I guess it could matter if you're intending to sell links on them, but that's about it.

    • PageRank still updates for websites, who are launched before July/August. For new websites PageRank is 0!

    • Yeah surer PR still works, but my blog is still only around the 1.25 million worldwide ranking and I can't seem to push it any further
  • Occasionaly the update is still on.
  • Does it work or does it matter? The domain PR no longer matters in my opinion.

    All it is, is visible for us, google doesn't let us see the real PR... aka trust rank.

  • PageRank still updates, just it takes a couple of times.
    So you'll not notice.

  • PR still has an importance and it is still updated. But PR is not the only major thing to focus on ranking a website.
