Choosing Exact Keyword Domains For Niches

Just wondering how many warriors are choosing exact keyword domains and if your strategy is just that, how many monthly global searches are you looking for? I recently just bought a super rich keyword domain with 10,000 searches a month and I want to start doing more. Has anyone had any problems with this?

    What are your keywords and when you "Google" them is there a large number of search results for that specific keyword or phrase? If so you may have a hard time when you start your SEO however as long as you have all the resources. I also have many domain name keyword rich names. From experience they rank well and I have got a specific site just recently from page 13 to page 2 in 72 hours and it is still climbing.

    My keywords have very large search results but there are no sites specifically targeting those keywords.. My strategy is to specifically target those keywords, obviously with having those domains names. I just wondered if this is the best way to target niches to get a headstart

      this is not something to stress over or spend more than a day casually thinking about. Keywords in the domains don't really mean much anymore. If I had to read it on a scale of 1 to 10 I'd put it at one. It is tradition to have keywords in the URL but that has been spammed out so much that it doesn't really matter anymore but it does help if all things are equal ( but all things are never equal ).

      you might want to consider spending more time thinking about a brand name in your domain name. What I have seen if you do a search for Seo tools ( and absurd the broad and highly competitive term ) is that the top ranking companies are including their domain name or some type of brand name in their titles. This is an indication that Google is trying to find unique brands just as it has sought out unique content over the years.

      I've had no problem getting high rankings 1st page and top 3 for keywords no were found in the domain name or the URL.

      when it comes to keywords... focus mainly on your page titles. your homepage title especially and all pages linked from your homepage. Don't spam it ( keyword stuffing ).

        Thanks for the insight. I am a semi newbie and my domain name which is an exact keyword for a highly searched term (over 10,000 a month) is ranking top five right now and our site is being up. If your correct, it must be because of our homepage title which is that keyword. I was thinking it was because of our domain name with exact keywords, but I guess I am wrong..

          You are talking about the website from your sig, right? It has 9,900 broad local monthly searches but you should always look for the exact local monthly searches, which is 3,600 for that therm.
          You climbed in the first positions because you have the exact match domain, plus title and more than 170 backlinks, many of them with anchor text your keyword, many from related websites, PR1 tp PR4, AND because there is really low competition for this therm.
          The problem is that google gives an estimated CPC of $0.53 for your therm, and from some studies, the real cpc that we get is not even half of what google displays. But maybe you will not use it for adsense so then this doesn't matter.

          What I don't understand is, why would you create backlinks to an empty website?? Let's say you are Google, what would you think about an empty website going to the first position for a therm or two? People definitely don't link to it but it get's more and more backlinks, that means all are created by the owner, and as the website is not offering anything, I would consider those links spam.

          I would suggest you to put some content on it if you want to keep your position in Google.

            My business partner went out and got an SEO consultant who demanded our site go down because there were some issues with our URLs. I have been trying to convince him to get it back up because I was thinking that Google will soon get suspicious on not having any content and just a homepage.. Thank you for reiterating my thoughts. Hopefully our site can go up soon and we wont have to worry about this.

            On another note, are you saying that a CPC of that price, if what you saying is more like 20 cents, is way too low? What is a better CPC to strive for when finding a niche?

              Of course, the higher the CPC, the better. I have a website with a keyword that has a CPC of $2.01, exact local monthly searches 1,300, and it is on position #4, still dancing on positions as I'm backlinking to it so the traffic is not steady. I've got a few clicks of around $1.20 but the majority are $0.30-0.60.
              The revenue you will make also depends on the buying factor of the keyword. If people who are searching for that keyword are looking for something to buy, than you'll make more money than with a keyword which people use to just to find some information. For example the keyword I told you about it's used by many people who just look for some info an maybe only 30% are looking to buy the product.

                With this particular site, we are getting a lot of hype via social media because our product is very unique and can't be bought anywhere. The only problem that I see now is that I would have rather gone out and bought a domain that was brandable and not just some keyword domain. I guess I could always go out and do some 301 redirects but heard that was tricky.

      Though you have an exact keyword domains.
      You'll need to check your competitor strength too.

    I have had goodluck with keyword domain names. If you can get them they are good to have IMO.
