"Got to Rank #1 Now What?"

Hey guys, so I've been wondering once you get the first spot on google's first page do you need to do anything to maintain this spot assuming the sites below you don't add any new content either? Will google rank you down because there's no activity?

Also am I supposed to put in all my content once at a time or can I put it all up at once? I don't care if it will take longer to rank, but will a surge of content permanently cripple me?

Thanks!

Google will absolutely drop you further down without activity. Continue to add content naturally and with the user in mind. Don't worry about adding too much or too little. When a site goes live, it will go from zero to everything overnight. Google knows this.

When I get a site to numero uno for its main keyword I have a little celebration on the inside for my job well done... and then its back to business as usual. Not only do I want to rank number one for a keyword but I wanna be the damn authority for that keyword. That means at least weekly updates and I continue my backlinking campaign until the site stabilizes (that means no more dancing).

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

Sometimes you can leave your web page as is and it can rank for whole year.If the competition is low there is no need to invest more time and money.

We've seen the opposite since Panda. Luck is becoming more scarce.

So only backlinking is needed? My main concern is with whter or not I need to add articles.
