Certainly, it will help a lot. However, if you want to add a keyword to the search, that's simple, just do this:
"powered by wordpress" site:".edu" - Google Search

Remember, Google has stated that edu links have no more influence than a .com or .net site for example. If you are looking for .edu sites, be sure to use high PR and preferably dofollow too.

One of about 1,000 advanced G queries to find .EDU/.GOV sites. The real trick is finding ones that actually let you place a link. Good luck spending hours with that search term...

  Regardless, an edu link is powerful. It is still going to gain credibility in Google. And what would Google think if you had all do-follow links and 0 no-follows, they'd be skeptical right? You need link diversity, so you need some no-follows too.

Any of the EDU links found on neglected blogs & forums have been pretty much spammed to death. They are worthless.

Sites that I have secured EDU links from were gotten because of content and value to the users from their sites.

Yes, they are powerful and pass authority, but the spammed ones, not much better than a profile link on any other spammed site in my opinion.

I agree with you Barry. Good luck on getting an answer to that one.

There is no evidence today that .edu links carry any extra authority.

The only evidence anyone can point to is... "Trust me. They really work."

Anytime the debate comes up, that is the only thing the people who believe in .edu's have to say.

Exactly.

I've also seen many of these so-called "edu" links on abandoned blogs and forums that have taken a hit from the Panda update. They aren't immune just because they sit in a .EDU domain.

Who wants a link from a site with 3,000 "Nice Post" or "I agree" comments on it?

I would so much rather a link from relevant sites, with relevant content where I can converse with the site owners and build my social capital, reputation and at some point, get the chance to do a guest post, embark on a joint venture etc.

So much more than just ".edu" links and so many other link gems to be found if you want them.

The problem is a lot of people are looking for automated to get a link and get rich in the process. It just isn't going to happen.

According to me you all should check backlinks of that website who is commented on the .edu blog. you just think if he/she submitting comment on this .edu blog . he will be commenting on other different .edu blog as well.
