Choosing a Domain Name

Hi Warriors,

I am getting ready to create a review website for an upcoming launch. However, as expected, all the good names are already taken....

productname(.net, .com, .org, etc.)
productnamebonus(.net, .com, .org, etc.)
productnamereview(.net, .com, .org, etc.)

As well as several close variations of those.

I was wondering, if I created a site named:

reviewproductname.com

how much would it hurt me in the rankings, if at all?

In other words, does the keyword order matter at all?

Please let me know.

Well it's like looking at broad match versus exact match. Broad match in keyword research would be fine to go after if you thought you had a legitimate shot at ranking number one for that keyword, except it sounds like this niche and especially product/keyword is pretty competitive given the fact that you can't find any domain names which you want.

In other words, the domain name itself won't be the reason that you rank or don't rank, so I wouldn't sweat it and I would focus on choosing a name with your audience in mind or add an adjective on either side to make it unique; in my opinion "reviewproductname.com" isn't bad tho.

Well you don't have to do that, you can always say:

    honestproductnamereview
    thebestproductnamereview
    truth-productnamereview

I agree with Ivana, as long as the keywords are contained in the phrase in order, it's ok to use. I try if possible to keep it under 20 characters, mostly because I start to have a hard time remembering my own urls!

I beleive you will want to get your domain name as close to an exact match as your main keyword as possible.
