I use bluehost and it is one of the best I tried. You want to have your web sites on different IP's in seo perspective it is a good idea. You can link your web sites and get benefit from that.

I host all my websites on one VPS (Linode) and my home server. No need for different IP's unless you feel like interlinking your sites. Hosting providers regularly host thousands of sites on one IP so it doesn't matter that way.

Hosting your own sites on different IPs is helpful when you plan to interlink these sites, so there is niche related backlink benefit or you wanted to run 2-3 sites on a same keyword.
