Who else is using Google Addwords and profting?

I have heard more negative than positive comments about using Google addwords
especially when it comes to promoting affiliate products( clickbank) things like account
suspensions after 5 years of using Google and such...I have also heard pretty impressive stuff ! my question..I am willing to play by the rules and be really careful in terms of ads relevancy/landing pages and such.(I studied a lot lol )but should I give it a shot? Is it worth it ??

Ps: some of the things I heard " no matter what you do Google will shut you down anyway,even the experts gave up!"
