what should be the estimate earning for 20K exact searches

Suppose i have a keyword with around 0.5$ CPC value.
The exact searches are around 20K.
Now what should be the estimate earning for it ?
I know its hard to tell really. But im just asking it.

(As i am thinking of getting Mat's Number one page ranking for any keyword)

    It's really, really hard to say, but here's what I do to estimate when researching a keyword. I estimate:

    X 10% of search volume to my site, assuming Rank 3-10 on average
    X 80% (Assuming there's some chance it won't get ranked on the first page...this depends on how successful you've been, historically, at getting 1st page rankings)
    X 5% CTR (A fair assumption, but depends on how you generally do there)
    X 50% of stated cpc (You rarely average the full amount on GKT)

    So in your situation, I would guess at:
    2,000 visits to site
    1,600 visits to site, taking poor rankings into account
    80 click/moth, based on an estimated 5% CTR
    $0.25 estimated cpc on average
    $20/month estimate from primary KW phrase

    Don't forget you'll generally get a good amount of traffic from other keywords as well, but that should give you some idea as to what you can get, low-end for your keyword.

    Wow that pretty low. So other people who suggest targeting 1000 exact search is really not worth it.

      1000 searched will be AT LEAST 10$.. Depending, but that's a safe estimate.

    That's why I'm saying it's really tough to estimate. You could have 3x better CTR with that particular niche and the cpc could be around $0.75 on average. In that case you would get around $120/month.

    Anyway, using estimates like that is better in comparison to another keyword you're looking to target and not just as a stand-alone estimate.

    We regularly target keywords that are in the 1,000 searches/month range. Some of them make us $2.00 per month and some of them make us $30 per month...but if you use that guide as a comparison you'll at least be avoiding those keywords that are MUCH lower than others.
