WTF?! From page 2 to nowhere in a day...

My site no longer comes up for my main keyword (in google). I have an EMD that has been climbing the ranks for 3 months...

Just prior to this occurring, I made one post - absolutely nothing improper about it. I also changed the header to of one of my widgets (wp) to my main keyword (the one no longer showing up in searches). Within 24 hours of this, I'm gone from the results?!

The only thing I could possibly imagine is that the widget change may have been considered keyword-stuffing? I don't know, as I really haven't missused or overused the main keyword.

I'm starting to think I should just focus on writing good content (which I can do) and give up on seo as the rules change daily and are like trying to hit a moving target...

Any ideas guys?

welcome to the world of Google. They updated a bunch of stuff last night and a few of my sites took a dive while a couple came back higher than ever.

No rhyme nor reason to it a lot of the time (that us mere mortals can see anyways).

Just keep linking consistently and build out more sites so that you always have some up.

Uh-oh. Not good. I understand completely what just happened to you Galt but I don't think that you should stop using SEO any more and just continue on writing good content. Google just happen to be more strict now that the usual and I have no doubts that this is because of the Google Panda Algorithm. It's still more effective if we do both writing good content and SEO.

I've rolled back the changes I've made - we'll see what happens...

I don't mean to insult anyone here, but how can there be any SEO experts when no one really knows what the heck goog is up to?

Funny you bring this up. I was JUST reading an email from a friend regarding this exact same thing.

          You're fine. I wouldn't worry too much.

Welcome to the Google dance. There's no telling what Google's new algorithm is up to. But you can be confident that your rankings in the SERPs will reappear. Probably sooner rather than later based on the minor adjustments you made to your site.

          Damn Google!

P.S. My buddy got sandboxed and he just kept building links and creating new content. And when he reappeared in Google's SERPs, he ranked significantly higher. (I'm not saying you're sandboxed - Just wanted to offer a little encouragement).

That is because any SEO expert really is only "guessing" as to what is going on. No one really has the inside scoop on Google!

However, there is something called the "google dance" and that is when you do something new Google will dance your ranking around to find what the new ranking should be. Generally it will settle in higher than before unless you have done something scammy.

SEO providers work a step ahead based on their experience, use common sense, and own several web properties to help their customers.

You're probably confusing SEO providers with link sellers.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Check to see if your site is still in Google "site:yoursite.com"

If it appears then that means that is just doing the dance - just keep providing valuable content and keep building links and you will bounce back - if the site is only 3 months old then you are going to have to expect it to bounce around

This happened to me with one of my sites last week.. my top earner.. went bye-bye for exactly 5 days. I checked all the keywords used to get to my site just the day before.. all previously page 1 results.. they were page 10 and further back. Then day 6 came around.. right back on page 1 where I originally was. Someone here wrote an interesting explanation on flux a few days ago.. maybe that's all it was. Hopefully you'll return soon.
